The Extra Mile:
Not Quite 1 in a Million, but it was 1 in 190,312!
The customer's mailer is printed. The list is loaded and each piece is getting its unique address imprinted on it at a rate of 30,000 per hour.
The customer calls. They received a "do not mail" request when the list was already at the mailer.
Most printers would have said, "Sorry the job's being processed. It's too late." But HLPS isn't most printers and Jason, who operates the addressing equipment, is no ordinary employee.
As piece after piece raced out of the machine, Jason kept his eye on each and every individual address. Sure enough, he spotted the name associated with the "do not mail" request. He pulled it, gave it to the CSR, who informed the customer.
She was ecstatic, in utter disbelief someone would scan thousands of pieces for her in real time.
She framed the piece. We were happy to go the extra mile for the customer.
