Qr Code Modification Testing: Results
We had over a hundred volunteers who participated in our QR Code Modification testing project, posted last month. The results may surprise you!
A little background: We saw articles at both cnnmoney.com and mashable.com that were galleries of QR codes that had been beautifully modified by designers and artists. On a whim, we tried scanning them as we clicked through the galleries, and many failed to scan. We decided to write a story that allowed the readers to do the same. Here are the results.
With over 100 submissions, we saw the following:
1. Many designs were scannable by most, if not all participants.
Our basic conclusion is that if companies plan on developing modified QR codes, they need to invest much more heavily in testing than they are. In our opinion, any failure rate above 5% is cause for concern.
Both of these QR codes failed to scan over 70% of the time.
